If you love pies you know that homemade pie crust is always better! And it’s actually really easy to make! There are a lot of recipes over the internet but if you are looking for an easy homemade flaky pie crust recipe here is mine! This recipe only takes minutes to make and works for apple pies, strawberry pies, blueberry pies, cherry pies…
You can do it by hand or with a food processor but for me by hand is much faster! The time it takes to take the food processor out and then the cleaning it afterwards, it’s faster to make it by hand! But it’s up to you! If you prefer using a food processor go for it, all you have to do is pulse the flour and the butter together then add the water and pulse again.
Ingredients you’ll need
Not only, this homemade flaky pie crust is easy to make, it only calls for 4 ingredients! And here is the list:
- Four
- Butter
- Salt
- Water
- Sugar (optional, I never use it but you could add a couple of tbsp if you wanted to make it sweeter)
How to make a Homemade Flaky Pie Crust
Like I said, it’s pretty simple!
- In a large bowl, add the flour, a pinch of salt and the cold cubes of butter.
- Using your fingers (or your kids) mix the flour and butter together until combined with a few little pieces of butter left.
- Add the cold water and mix again until the dough holds together. You might have to add a little bit more but do it one tbsp at a time so you don’t end up with a really wet dough.
- Make a bowl and refrigerate for half an hour.
- You can then roll it down and make pretty pies!
