Ice cream season is here! And we all know that homemade ice cream is the best! Much better than any ice cream you’ll find in stores! My daughter loves ice cream! Her favourite flavours are vanilla, strawberry and chocolate! I shared with you before my recipes for homemade vanilla ice cream and homemade strawberry ice cream. Today I am telling you how to make a delicious homemade chocolate ice cream!
Ingredients you will need
Making chocolate ice cream requires a few ingredients. And a little bit of thinking ahead. You’ll need to prep the ingredients the night before so it can cool down all night. That being said it’s really not that hard to make chocolate ice cream from scratch.
You’ll need:
- Whole Milk
- Egg Yolks
- Sugar
- Whipping Cream
- Dark Chocolate
How to make Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

Here are the steps:
- In a small sauce pan, bring the milk to a boil.
- In the mean time, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until foamy and light yellow.
- Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, constantly stirring.
- Put the milk and yolk mixture back to the pan and cook on medium heat, constantly stirring, until it reaches 85C.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the chocolate and stir until completely melted.
- Add the cream and stir well.
- Refrigerate for a few hours or over night.
- Pour the ice cream mixture into the ice cream maker and run for 30 minutes.
- Eat right away or store in the freezer!
Enjoy alone or add some homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce!
