I am always trying to find ways to use up ingredients instead of throwing it away. And since I make a lot of ice cream (my daughter loves it), I often end up with a lot of egg whites. So you can always make meringues or macaron but here is another great way to use your left over egg whites! It’s super easy to make and it’s delicious! If you don’t know what almond tuiles are, its a delicate almond snaps that is crunchy and sweet!
Ingredients you’ll need
This little cookie only cooks for ten minutes and it go with everything! Once its cool you can enjoy it with ice cream, chocolate mousse, pot de creme, fruit salad… or on its own!
It only takes a few ingredients to make perfect almond tuiles:
- Egg whites
- Sliced Almonds
- Sugar
- Butter
- Flour
How to make almond tuiles
This recipe is really easy but it requires some thinking ahead!
In a bowl, mix together the almonds, egg whites, sugar and melted butter and let the mixture set in the fridge at least an hour but it’s better to leave it overnight.
The next morning, mix in the flour.
Scoop the cold mixture on a silicone mat and spread a little bit. Flatten with a fork to make little disks.
Bake for 10 minutes, until the sides are golden brown.
Once you baked them you can just let them cool off flat or put them on a rolling pin so they can become little boats that you can fill up with, once again, homemade ice cream, homemade whipped cream and fruits…
Almond tuiles will instantly make any of your desserts look a little bit fancier! Just put one on the side of any dessert you serve and your friends and family will think you are the best mom/cook/host ever!
But be careful, if you start you might end up eating 20 of them!!!
