I always wanted to make my own beauty products. Face creams and masks, hair products even makeup but I thought I would start with something simple like homemade bath salts! It is pretty, fun and it smells amazing!
For this recipe I choose to make lavender bergamot bath salts but you can easily make any combo you want! All you need is one or two scents (don’t over do it). I love to use a mix of flowers and essential oils so it looks pretty and smells really good. Also I love having little flowers floating in my bath!
What you’ll need
This recipe is pretty simple and doesn’t need to be exact:
- 2 cups of epsom salts
- 1 cup of coarse salt (I use Himalayan pink salts because it’s pretty)
- 2 tbsp of baking soda
- 1/4 cup of dry flowers (here I chose lavender but you can go for combination as well like rose and hibiscus or calendula and camomille or anything you want)
- 15 drops of essential oils (here I used lavender and bergamot in equal parts but you can use anything that goes with the flowers you picked like rosewood, orange, lemon, ylang-ylang…)
- a pretty jar, little tubes or pretty little bags
How to make your homemade bath salts
Ok so this is going to be very simple so here it is!
Pour everything in a bowl and stir!
That’s it! Put your bath salts in a jar or a bag and enjoy!
If you want to make your bath salts a little bit fancier you could make layers. In that case, use a little bowl to mix the essentiel oils with the epsom salt, then pour every ingredients one by one in a jar!
How and why to use bath salts
The epsom salts will help you relax your muscles and mind and the lavender essential oil will too!
Here are a few ways you can enjoy your new homemade bath salts:
Sprinkle a scoop of bath salt into your bath and let dissolve for 15 minutes!
Sprinkle a little bit of salts on the floor of your shower/tub and enjoy the aromatherapy during your shower.
Poor some salts into a large basin with warm water and enjoy a foot soak!
You can also use different essential oils to get other benefits.
