Fabric Dish Cover

// Sewing

One of my favourite way to cut on plastic wrap waste and use aluminum foil: fabric dish cover! You can make them any size or shape you want, for any dish, bowl, cup, cake pan… Anything you want!!!

You can also make you dish cover any colour you want to match your kitchen! You can use any kind of fabric, oil cloth if you want something thicker and waterproof, organic cotton if you want something a little more natural or even just a little piece of left over fabric you have around from an other project!

Fabric dish cover is so easy to make you don’t even need to be good with a sewing machine! And it’s machine washable so it’s always clean and fresh!

You can make fabric dish cover to fit any thing you want

Material to make your fabric dish cover:

  • Oil cloth or any kind of fabric
  • Matching thread
  • Elastic (0.5 cm or 1 cm)
  • Sewing clips
  • Sewing machine
You will need fabric, thread, scissors and clips to make those fabric dish cover

Instruction:

  • First, measure your elastic by pulling it around your dish and add a couple of cm.
  • Place your dish upside down on your fabric, trace a circle 2 cm away from it then cut the fabric.
  • I like to fold it in four so I can see where to put my clips then divide your elastic in 4 and place 4 clips on it.
  • Attach the elastic to the fabric.
  • Sew the elastic to the fabric quarter by quarter starting by one of the clip. Make sure the elastic is tensed so you’ll have enough elastic to go all the way around the fabric!
Fabric dish cover is a great way to reduce waste and plastic use
