I moved to Canada in my twenties so my first Halloweens were fun but I’ve never experienced it as a kid. But since I became a mother I discovered Halloween through the eyes of my daughter and it has become one of our favourite Holidays! We make costumes (like this DIY Witch costume), we bake tasty treats, we decorate our house and we go trick or treating! She loves all of it and really gets into the spirit of Halloween when we start decorating! This DIY Clay Ghosts for Halloween is the perfect little craft for kids to decorate your house. It’s cute and spooky but not scary at all! So it is perfect for the little ones!
Supplies you’ll need
- Self drying clay (white of possible)
- White paint ( if, like us, you use clay that is not white)
- A rolling pin
- A straw
- A few round shaped item to hold the ghosts while they dry (Russian dolls, deodorant, shot glasses…)
How to make these DIY Clay Ghosts for Halloween
Knead the clay to make it soft and easy to roll.
Roll the clay with a rolling pin. Don’t roll it tho thin otherwise it will break when you try to shape it.
Cut roundish shapes.
Cut 3 holes for the eyes and mouth, a little bit beneath the center, using a straw or a piping tip.
Slowly and carefully lift the clay onto the round support you chose or one you made out of aluminum foil.
Folds should happen as the clay covers the support but you can add more or change them to you liking.
Let the ghosts dry on their support.
Once completely dry, if you used a air dry clay that is not white, simply paint your little ghosts inside and out with white paint.
Tips: Place an electric tea light under each ghosts and make your Halloween night even more spooky!
