3 Easy DIY Bird Feeders Ideas
Pine cone Bird Feeder
That one is a lot of fun because first your kids will have to look for the perfect pine cone to make this easy DIY bird feeder. It will need to be big enough and open enough for you to add a lot of bird foo inside. Then let your kids scoop peanut butter in each opening of the pine cone. The last step will be for your kids to sprinkle the bird food mix on the peanut butter.
Coconut Bird Feeder
We like using coconut for our homemade bird feeder because the birds can also take some of the coconut fibers for their nests if they need to. Which is a little extra love for our feathered friends! But you could use another fruit, like half an orange, anything that is strong enough to hold the bird food without loosing its shape.
All you have to do is make little holes on each sides of the coconut shell to hang it from a tree (or something else). Then let your kids fill up the coconut shell with the homemade bird food mix you made (or the store bought bird food mix).
Hang your homemade bird feeder in your garden or anywhere else! Since it is made entirely of food you can hang it anywhere!
Tea cup Bird Feeder
You could use any container you want, but since you are using containers, only use that kind of bird feeder in your own garden or balcony. We don’t want to create more garbage!
That one is an even easier DIY bird feeder. Find a pretty tea cup, at home, in a thrift store, at your grandmas… Fill it up with bird food. Then place it somewhere in your garden or hang it from a tree!
Bonus DIY Bird Feeder idea
If you don’t have anything to use as a food holder, I’ve got you covered!
Simply mix your homemade bird food mix with peanut butter (the birds we know prefer the crunchy kind!). Fill up a cookie cutter with the mix. Make a hole in it. Then refrigerate overnight. Remove from the fridge and tie a string in the hole and hang it anywhere!
