I am sure we can all agree, hot chocolate is a treat, for adults and kids alike! On a cold rainy day (we have a lot of these here in the pacific north west!) or on a Sunday morning, hot chocolate is always comforting and delicious! We used to buy the organic fair trade kind, but even that one has a few unnecessary ingredients like guar gum and some others. Also it is pretty pricey, around 10$ for 300g! Turns out making homemade hot chocolate mix is super easy, way cheaper and even more delicious!
Follow my recipe and you will never buy hot chocolate mix ever again!
Ingredients you’ll need
For this recipe you will have a few options depending on your taste but here are the non negotiable ingredients:
- Cocoa Powder (organic and fair trade if you can)
- Sugar
- Salt (this is optional but it does enhance the taste of chocolate!)
And here are the additional ingredients you could use:
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla (or use vanilla sugar, if you want to make your own, simply add a vanilla pod into a container of sugar and leave it for a couple of weeks)
- Grated Dark Chocolate
- Milk Powder (great addition if you are planning on making your hot chocolate with water but if you are vegan or lactose intolerant don’t add it)
