Summer is almost here and it’s going to get hot (hopefully!) During the summer, my daughter and I don’t craft a lot because we are too busy exploring the world, camping, going to the beach, or doing anything else outside! But, leaving in Canada, we do encounter a few rainy days here and there, even during the summer! This DIY paper fan is a really fun and useful summer craft you can do with your kids!
Supplies you’ll need
This summer craft is really easy and only requires supplies you probably already have at home! Here is a list of what you need in order to make a cute paper fan with your kids:
- Pretty paper (you can buy pretty paper or let your kids draw or paint whatever they want on a piece of white paper)
- Glue (I used my glue gun because I wanted it to stick really well but I believe a glue stick will work as well maybe not as strong though)
- A little bit of thread to secure the paper
- A couple of popsicle sticks
- Tiny hair elastics
How to make your own Paper Fan
- If your kids want to customize their fans, let them draw or paint on the paper you will use.
- Fold the paper like a little fan. Fold the edge of the paper (1cm – 1/2inch). Then flip and fold again. Keep going until your paper looks like a little accordion.
- Cut the paper in half.
- Fold the tiny fan in half and secure it with a little piece of thread.
- Glue the little fan where you folded it.
- Then glue the 2 little fans together.
- Glue the popsicle sticks on each end of the fan.
- Use the hair elastic to keep the fan closed or open.
- And voila! Your DIY Paper Fan is done!
