Here is a super easy thing you can definitely make yourself! Homemade Vanilla Syrup is used in baking to moisten your cakes (like this one) before covering them with whipped cream or buttercream. But you can also use it in your coffee! Vanilla Latte, London Fogs or any drinks that calls for vanilla syrup!
I really don’t have a lot to say about vanilla syrup so this won’t take long!
The recipe is really simple! It a basic simple syrup (water and sugar) with vanilla.
I prefer to use whole vanilla bean but I’m sure you could do it with a vanilla extract.
The steps to make homemade vanilla syrup are super simple:
Boil equal part of water and sugar and add vanilla!
Done! You have your homemade Vanilla Syrup!
Usually, I use 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar so I have enough syrup to bake and make coffees but you can do more or less depending on how much syrup you need! I find that with the 2 cups recipe, 1 vanilla pod is perfect! Simply cut it in half and scrape the vanilla. Add it to the simple syrup (water and sugar) and bring it to a boil. Boil it for a few minutes then poor it in a clean bottle or mason jar. Keep it in the fridge and use whenever you need!
