Circle skirts for little girls are the easiest kind of skirt you can make and it is perfect for kids because it is made for twirling! So if you are ready to start, follow the steps and you will make your little girl really happy!
I made my little girl one using denim fabric and lace but you can use any kind of fabric you want and any embellishment you like. You can even add some iron on embellishment to make even prettier!
All you need to do to make that circle skirt for your little girl is to cut 2 circles into the fabric, sew a hem on the bottom and put an elastic at the waist!
Material to make the circle skirt:
- Any kind of fabric big enough to cut the whole circle in it
- Matching thread
- Foldable elastic
- Lace
Instruction:
- Measure the elastic around the waist and pull it a little bit so it’s still comfortable. Allow a cm for seam.
- Measure the waist circumference and use simple trigonometry to find the radius.
- Radius = Waist circumference / 2π
- Measure the length of the skirt you want.
- Then cut your 2 circles. Folding the fabric in 4 will help!
- Fold the elastic in 4 and pin it. Do the same with the skirt. Match your pins. Line up the edge of the skirt with the elastic and add some pins. Sew the inside of the foldable elastic inside the waistline of the skirt, then sew the outside.
- Fold the hem of the circle skirt then iron it. Pin it.
- Place the lace inside the skirt, folding the lace every 10cm so it will turn with the edge of the skirt.
- Sew the hem with the lace.
- And voila! You have a perfect circle skirt for little girls!
