Who doesn’t like homemade vanilla ice cream?? It’s a basic thing that everybody has in their freezer and that will complement any pie or cake and will make a delicious treat for kids and adults alike! Since we eat a lot of ice cream in my house (especially my daughter!) I had to find the best recipe! And I did!!! At least, we think so! It took me a few weeks but that fine cause now you won’t have too!
Here is another thing you can do with your homemade ice cream, you can fill up some popsicle molds and freeze them. You could stop there. But if you are like us, you will love dipping those little vanilla popsicles into melted chocolate! My daughter loves doing the dipping and having chocolate all over her hands!
Homemade vanilla ice cream is the best! And it’s actually really simple to make if you have an ice cream maker!
Ingredients you’ll need
You only need a few ingredients in order to make a delicious vanilla ice cream:
- Whole Milk
- Egg Yolks
- Sugar
- Whipping Cream
- Vanilla Pod
How to make Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
You’ll need only a few basic ingredients to prepare a delicious vanilla ice cream! But you will have to think ahead! Because homemade ice cream is a 2 days job!
On day 1 put your ice cream maker in the freezer and prepare your ice cream mixture with the eggs, the sugar, the milk, the cream and the vanilla.
- Warm up the milk with the vanilla pod scraped in a small sauce pan.
- Beat the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, constantly stirring.
- Put the milk and yolk mixture back to the pan and cook on medium heat, constantly stirring, until it reaches 85C.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the cream and stir well.
This mixture needs to be completely cold. So you will have to refrigerate this for a few hours. I strongly recommend to keep it the fridge over night.
The next day you simply have to pour the ice cream mixture in your ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer instructions. A few minutes later you will have homemade vanilla ice cream! You can keep it in the freezer for a few weeks but if your family is like mine I highly doubt it will last that long!
Enjoy it like that or with homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce!
