Do you love strawberry pie? Well, we do! But we love this strawberry galette even more! It’s way faster to make, since there is only one pie crust make and roll down. And it’s delicious!!! Served a la mode with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream or with a little bit of homemade whipped cream! It’s the perfect dessert for any occasion!
Ingredients you’ll need
- A flaky pie crust (find my recipe here)
- Fresh strawberries
- Sugar
- Corn starch
- Lemon juice
- One egg
How to make this delicious Strawberry Galette
Like I said, this recipe is pretty easy to make and doesn’t require any equipment or baking skills! My 4 years old daughter actually makes it so I’m sure anybody can do it!
- First, you need to make the flaky pie crust. You could buy one, but it’s pretty easy to make and homemade always tastes much better!
- If you want to make your own, you’ll only need flour, butter, a pinch of salt and a tiny bit of water.
- While your crust rest in the fridge, start your strawberry filling.
- Wash and cut your strawberries.
- Place the strawberries in bowl and add sugar, corn starch and lemon juice. Mix together.
- Take your flaky pie crust out of the fridge and roll it down. This doesn’t have to be perfectly round because galettes have a rustic look, so son’t worry about it and let your kids do it!
- Put your strawberry filling on the crust and fold back the edges to cover some of the strawberries.
- Mix an egg with a tbsp of water and brush this mixture to the crust.
- Sprinkle sugar on it.
- Bake for for 30 minutes at 375F, until the crust is golden.
- And voila!
- Serve a la mode with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream (or homemade strawberry ice cream) or with a bit of homemade whipped cream (or both!).
